Yesyesyes dear people: craft is totally en vogue.
In recent years, it has been increasingly imitated industrially and then it becomes lifestyle.
Craft (not just ceramics) means humanity and sustainability.
But if confusion is desired, why don't we just imitate the industry?
That's what we thought - and in 2022 we launched our pseudo-industrial, 6-piece tableware

This artisanal visual response to industrial production, proved too pale for many.
That is why we will be showing some true colours over our white porcelain in 2025!
Namely green, red, blue, yellow and cobalt-with-gold.
The latter is also blue, but dark and painted in a line on the rim of otherwise white porcelain.
A narrower line of 24 carat, or 100% gold, has been painted over the cobalt.
Which is not a true color, but a precious metal.
The new tableware series is called
PORCELLA PUBLICA

The series consists of five parts (deep plate, dinner plate, bowl, dish and cup) in five colours.
And the webshop is back! (only in dutch so far)
Porcelaine Royale (still our pride) is available from stock,
where the new collection Porcella Publica is made to order (3-6 weeks delivery time).
We continue to make everything by hand, on the potter's wheel, because that is much more fun than factory work.
- Industrial production is outdone by the sharp finesse of our experienced craftsman
- whose artisanal elegance makes industrially made hotelware tremble
- We paint the cobalt and gold with a humane frivolity,
that many a machine would look away from in envy

2. 14 YEARS J.C. HERMAN

On April 1st it will be exactly 14 years since J.C. HERMAN opened its doors,
but this year it falls on a Tuesday, so come and celebrate on
Sunday April 6, 2025
between 1 – 5 pm
in HET VEEM in Amsterdam
- to see the colourful collection PORCELLA PUBLICA (2025) as a prototypical haute céramique,
showing off its colours on a hanging catwalk in our studio - to order this new tableware series there and only on 6 April by pre-registration with a 10% discount
(delivery time ± 3-6 weeks) - to buy a plate, cup or bowl of PORCELAINE ROYALE (in stock)
- to have a drink (in a glass) on 14 years j.c.herman – alone, with friends, the potter or both.
Free admission – everyone is welcome, including physically challenging wheelchair users,
because there is an elevator at the back (please announce your arrival time in order to open the back door).
We have a payment machine for all cards + Apple Pay, (small) change for cash,
packing service and plastic bags, a ground floor toilet, free Wi-Fi and beautiful pottery.
