Porcella is derived from Porca, which means Pig.
Porcelain got its name from the Latin ('porcellano'),
because of its resemblance to a snail shell (cowry),
which in turn resembles a (pig's) vagina.
The five colours of porcella publica are named after the first leaders
of the five types of republics ('res publica') that can be distinguished.
